Utah Community Action is accepting applications for a Junior System Administrator. Come work for the agency that was just awarded Best of State 2022 for Best Public Preschool and Best Charitable Service Organization.

The Junior System Administrator will have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments, Azure, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, TCP-IP, server/PC Hardware, backups, and user and group management. Applying the working knowledge, the candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the agency's various computer systems and applications. This includes system and application upgrades, updates, and patches. The candidate will be responsible for securing the agency's data and the other resources ensuring data availability.

This is a full time posting making $27.26/hour or $56,700/annually. To qualify for this position, you must have a Bachelor's Degree in IT Related field or 3+ years of experience in IT and Certifications such as

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator
  • CompTIA Server+
  • CompTIA Security+
  • CompTIA Linux+

Preferred education and experience

  • Network Administration
  • Firewall Management
  • Voice Over IP Administration Experience
  • Load Balancer Administration

We are looking for someone who is highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail. This person must follow through on commitments to project deadlines.


  • Monitors system performance and availability
  • Maintain backup operations
  • Maintains systems documentation, including process diagrams, installation/configuration procedures, and support system knowledgebase articles
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of system standards
  • Works with other departments to determine system/hardware requirements
  • Leverages vendors and own knowledge to design and maintain different IT systems
  • Identifies correct operating system modifications and leverages Group Policy to enforce the correct modifications
  • Identifies and implements technological solutions which scale and properly leverage existing resources
  • Addresses and resolves technology operations issues
  • Responds to and resolves support requests on time
  • Interacts with vendors and those providing professional services
  • Assists in information and requirements gathering for new equipment and systems
  • Uses PowerShell, bash, and batch scripting
  • Ability to work after hours, evenings, weekends, and on-call evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to drive own vehicle to remote sites in Salt Lake and Tooele county.
